Learning Goal: To create a container with animal features or inspired by an animal using clay
You May
· Take part of the creature and incorporate it into the box (e.g. the head)
· Create a round or square container, using slab or pinch techniques
· Use this for holding jewelry, guitar picks, money, paint brushes etc.
1. Draw your animal as a representational drawing in your sketchbook (full page). This should have full tonal value. Make sure you draw from a photograph! DUE ****
2. Do three sketches in 2B pencil in your sketchbook of different containers. (3 on 1 page) Try drawing a variety of views (side, top, frontal)
***Your drawing must show evidence of research of a particular animal
***Stress texture, variety and unity
***Keep in mind that your creature should be sturdy, (i.e. legs should not be skinny, no skinny wings, etc.) as you will eventually be translating this animal into clay.
