Emphasis is defined as an area or object within the artwork that draws attention and becomes a focal point. 

Task 
1. In your sketchbook draw a 20cm x 20cm square.  
2.  You will be creating a ABSTRACT art work, using line, shape and colour 
*research pop art, cubism, or impressionism to generate some ideas for an abstract style
3.  Using line, shape and colour EMPHASIS one clear part of the artwork.

Craftsmanship (effort, care) 
Emphasis is shown 
Abstract

Unity 


Copy into sketchbook 
Unity (also called harmony) is an important principle of design that gives the artwork a sense of cohesion or coherence. It is the wholeness or completeness of a picture. 

Task 
1. In your sketchbook draw a 20cm x 20cm square.  
2.  You will be creating a NON-REPRESENTATIONAL art work, using value, space and texture
*research abstract expressionism ,colour field or Kandinsky to generate ideas for the non-rep-style
3.  Using value, space and texture, create UNITY in your design.  

*You must use a different medium than the emphasis project. 

Success Criteria 
Craftsmanship (effort, care) 
Unity is shown 
Non-Representational

Balance












Copy into sketchbook 

Balance in art refers to the sense of distribution of perceived visual weights that offset one another. We feel more comfortable--and therefore find it more pleasing--when the parts of an artwork seem to balance each other.
Task







1. In your sketchbook draw a 20cm x 20cm square.  
2.  You will be creating a REPRESENTATIONAL art work, using value, texture and line

3.  Using value, space and texture, create BALANCE in your design.  

*You must use a different medium than the emphasis project.
